A tragic truck crash on Victoria’s Hume Freeway has claimed the life a truck driver. The crash caused a section of the freeway to be closed causing major delays as traffic had to be diverted while the accident was cleared.  This type of tragedy is a reminder to truck drivers of the dangers associated with the job. The incident occurred early in the morning at 4:30 AM when the truck was travelling down the freeway. The B-double truck ran off the road and hit into a tree before bursting into flames. The truck driver died at the scene of the crash. It is not yet known what caused the truck to run off the road but police are investigating. In order to avoid similar accidents its best to understand how crashes of this nature occur in the first place. The main cause of trucks losing control and travelling into oncoming traffic is brake failure or tyre blow outs occasionally. To avoid braking failure in trucks, ensure trucks are regularly serviced and well maintained. Make sure that problems and faults in the vehicle are addressed immediately especially the brakes which the truck is so dependent on.
