In an alarming example of the consequences of tanker crashes, families had to be evacuated from their homes after a fuel tanker carrying 50,000 litres of flammable liquid lost control on a highway bend and rolled before coming to a stop just 20 metres from a home near Bendigo.
The homes occupants and others closeby had to leave their homes in Inglewood near the central Victorian city of Bendigo for fear of an explosion.
Around 600 homes are still without power after the tanker lost control and crashed through fences and a power pole recently.
The driver was lucky enough to escape with only minor injuries.
