NSW Police Discover Speed Limiter Tampering

The NSW Police recently issued a defect notice to a Victorian driver for allegedly avoiding speed limiting requirements after an inspection revealed the truck was capable of reaching speeds of 134.9km/h.

During police Operation Impact, NSW police stopped the truck registered in Victoria, travelling on the Sturt Highway, south of Hay.

The vehicle was found to contravene the 100km/h speed limit for heavy vehicles.

It’s important for persons in the transport sector to understand that those who drive, operate, service or load trucks are accountable. Speed limiting is crucial to road safety and trucks with non-compliant limiters won’t stop in time in a heavy breaking situation, John Hartley from NSW Traffic and Highway Patrol recently explained. Source: https://www.ownerdriver.com.au/industry-news/1608/driver-fined-for-truck-capable-of-1349kmh.
