A trucking company in NSW was issued with 8 defect notices by police recently during a raid, prompted by a fatal crash that claimed 2 lives in Sydney’s west.

Police obtained a search warrant following an investigation at the crash site which led to 14 of the company’s trucks being investigated.

Police discovered 2 trucks had major mechanical and brake issues, fuel leaks and multiple minor defects.

Authorities also seized a few of the trucks to be taken to the Roads and Maritime Service (RMS’s) Wetherill Park facility for further examination.

The company’s fatigue management practices were also examined by police who reviewed the drivers’ log books which revealed poor fatigue management.

The documents will form part of a chain of responsibility investigation, authorities stated.
