“Confusing road markings” have been blamed for a crash on the Monash Freeway that involved a truck and 3 cars. The driver of the truck said he was confused with yellow and white road markings painted on the road due to widening road works on the freeway. He said he only looked up to see traffic in front of him had come to a stop, seconds before crashing. The crash injured 3 women, one of whom was trapped in her vehicle for half an hour. Her vehicle was so badly crushed that it was a miracle she made it out alive. She suffered neck and back injuries and was taken to Alfred Hospital for treatment. The other 2 injured women were treated on the scene for minor injuries and taken to Dandenong Hospital for further treatment. Police said they would be investigating the incident but that the road markings were not to be blame. The driver is likely to be charged.
