New Zealand’s New Vehicle Mass and Dimension Rule

New Zealand has a new vehicle mass and dimension rule which came into effect recently.

The Vehicle Dimensions and Mass (VDAM) 2016 rule is being enforced by the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA), and includes key changes in vehicle dimensions and gross mass limits for certain common heavy vehicle configurations. It includes a change in general heavy vehicle dimensions such as width and height.

The new rules increase heavy vehicle width to 2.55m including load restraint devices, this is a 0.05m increase. Heavy vehicle height has been increased to 4.3m, also a 0.05m increase.

Gross mass limit standard has increased to 45,000kg, from 44,000kg.
