Truck Driver Charged over Fatal Berrima Crash

A 63 year old truck driver appeared in court over a fatal crash on the Hume Highway recently after his B-Double truck crossed the highway near Berrima in the NSW Southern Highlands and smashed into a Ford Ranger utility. The 23 year old male passenger in the utility vehicle was trapped and didn’t make it while the 24 year old driver was seriously injured. The truck driver appeared in court on charges of dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death. The case has been adjourned until December 6. The company involved in the crash had one of its vehicles grounded after authorities conducted a safety audit.Authorities discovered a major safety problem after inspecting 19 vehicles at the Sydney trucking company.
