Yatala Truck Fire

A truck driver was pulled to safety by passers-by who noticed his truck engulfed in flames. He managed to escape from the cabin just moments before it burst into flames on Melbourne’s West Gate Freeway.

According to reports, the truck was carrying an empty shipping container at the time when it crashed through outbound, metal road barriers at Port Melbourne before continuing on for 150 metres before coming to a halt and catching alight.

The 44 year old driver was lucky to survive and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters said the cabin was destroyed in the fire, and the driver was fortunate to be alive after a “massive impact” to the cabin.

Following the incident 5 cars driving past the scene were involved in a nose-to-tail collision. For that crash 3 people were treated on the scene.  Read more http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-02-17/truckie-rescued-before-semi-trailer-burst-into-flames-melbourne/9457496
