A report has shown that disruptions in the transport industry in the future are imminent, which is why the industry needs to plan now how it’s going to deal with these disruptions.
Two of the major work challenges that face the transport industry are automation and the changing economy, according to a report written for industry superannuation fund TWUSuper.
The report was written by Dr Jim Stanford, economist and director of The Centre for Future Work at the Australia Institute (AI) and AI senior economist Matt Grudnoff, who found that the industry is poised for “dramatic change” in the coming years.
Technology is one of the factors affecting changes which the researchers warn stakeholders need to address and prepare for. They highlight the importance of managing changes, minimising costs associated and maximising benefits.
