NSW Launches Transport Industry
Long distance drivers often suffer from back pain and weight gain because of the sedentary nature of their work however one German driver has managed to overcome this. Heiko Gebhardt, a German long haul driver gained 115kgs due to his life inside the cab which was also affecting his health. He suffered from a sore back due to long stints on the road. Heiko’s employer Spedition Fehrenkötter provided the driver with an unorthodox  but effective solution, a fitness studio inside his truck can. The system dubbed ‘TopFit-Set’ is about helping drivers get exercise in between driving, to reduce stress and muscle tension and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Since the system was installed, Heiko has lost 35kg and has improved his quality of life. The system basically consists of plywood board with straps attached, allowing Heiko to stand on the board and work out much like he would in a gym.
