The NSW Police traffic taskforce has undertaken its first major heavy vehicle compliance blitz for the year as part of Operation Impact.
The operation was conducted between January 14 and January 18 in the Armidale Police Area Command (Western region).
Inspectors checked 90 heavy vehicles and conducted 15 engine control module downloads, all of them compliant. There were 3 seatbelt infringements and 18 minor infringements issued.
Inspectors conducted 285 random breath tests and 124 mobile drug tests with 1 male driver testing positive. The 45 year old driver tested positive for cannabis.
NSW Police say the blitz shows a good level of compliance which coincides with the downward trend in heavy vehicle related fatalities.
