When heavy vehicles are involved, the consequences of a road crash can be devastating, as a recent incident in Melbourne has proven. A man in his thirties is fighting for his life in hospital after a horrific crash involving 11 vehicles. Several other people including a school-aged girl are also in hospital after being seriously injured in the 11 car crash on one of Melbourne’s busiest arterial roads. According to police, the crash occurred when a truck collided with multiple cars and a traffic light on Ring Road. The truck crossed six or seven lanes and smashed into about 8 vehicles. The crash left debris scattered across the road and one vehicle was left wedged in the truck’s front. In addition to a passenger in the first car who is critical in hospital, there were 7 other people injured including the truck driver. Two people had to be rescued after becoming trapped in another car.
