Industry Bodies Join Forces in Assessing HVNL Fatigue Related Issues

Industry bodies have joined forces to raise their concerns about what they deem a lack of clarity within the HVNL (Heavy Vehicle National Law). The National Road Transport Association (NatRoad), the Western Roads Federation and the Northern Territory Road Transport Association have submitted a joint submission to the NTC. These concerns were brought to the attention of the NTC last year, they are,
  • the transitioning between two-up and solo driving,
  • managing fatigue outside of participating.
Warren Clark, NatRoad Chief Executive said the issue of NatRoads members who were being fined when transitioning from 2 up driving back to solo was the first issue raised. Operators were also confused about traveling in and out of Western Australia  and the Northern Territory within a 7 day period complying with HVNL fatigue laws.
