A Sydney local MP says large trucks should be barred from traveling along Sydney’s Botany Road during peak pedestrian times due it being a densely populated area of Green Square. Some say large trucks in the area are a risk to the pedestrians that flood the areas during peak times and should the measure be adopted, it will be a first in Australia. The proposal from Heffron Labor MP, Ron Hoenig, came after a truck crash which claimed the life of a 44 year old woman recently. Five other people were also injured in the crash. The B-Double truck was carrying bricks when it ran off the road and veered into northbound lanes and hit a power pole, a bus stop and a building as well as the pedestrians. It has been alleged that the driver suffered a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot in the lungs before collapsing onto the wheel prompting the crash.He  was trapped in the vehicle for 45 minutes before he was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
