The biggest transport news for the start of 2013 is without doubt the opening of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. The NHVR will begin operating from the 21st January 2013 and it’s the first national independent regulator in Australia for all vehicles weighing more than 4.5 tonnes GVM. The NHVR will replace eight state and territory regulators with the aim of reducing red tape, making available more convenient services for heavy vehicle operators and creating more independence.
