The horrific crash was captured on video, http://youtu.be/aB-9VtMiXqE A horrific truck crash which took place on a busy road in South Africa during peak hour traffic has claimed the lives of 22 people and injured numerous others. The tragedy took place when the brakes on the truck supposedly failed, causing the truck to come speeding into a number of passenger vehicles including taxis transporting people home from work, as the taxis travelled through an intersection when the traffic light turned green for them. It later emerged that the heavy vehicle’s licence had expired and the brakes had failed which caused the incident. At least 24 people were injured, 10 critically during the horrific crash involving 4 minibus taxis and the truck. It is believed that the truck’s brakes had failed and the inexperienced truck driver did not know how to handle the vehicle, so flashed his lights and blasted the trucks hooter as he came speeding towards the vehicles, unfortunately the drivers of the other vehicles who were in peak traffic were not able to get out of the way in time. It was first believed that the truck was owned by a Taiwanese company, Evergreen shipping but they have denied the truck belongs to them. Authorities in South Africa have stressed the importance of holding truck owners and operators accountable for incidents involving their vehicles.
