Western Ring Road was the site of carnage recently after a cattle truck crashed into 6 cars. A woman was left fighting for her life in hospital after the incident which left the Altona-bound road closed at 6:15am. The cattle truck and 6 vehicles collided near the Boundary Road exit at Laverton North. The picture shows one of the vehicles involved in a mangled wreck after the occupant was rushed to hospital. The woman, believed to be in her sixties was trapped in the wreckage for almost an hour. The woman was airlifted to Alfred hospital where she was treated for head injuries. The crash left motorists stranded and brought peak hour traffic on the Western Ring Road to a halt.
