The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator will have some help overseeing the technical side of its safety initiatives, according to CEO Sal Petroccitto. The NHVR said it would be setting up a technical working group which would help the regulator provide technical guidance to the industry. Sal Petroccitto announced the initiative at the Heavy Vehicle industry Australia (HVIA) meeting in Perth. As technology plays an even more crucial role in vehicle safety, safety systems need to be managed at the operational and regulatory level as well, Petroccitto highlighted.
