Tougher Chain of Responsibility Urged at Australasian Road Safety Conference

Toll, the trucking titan has detailed measures it believes will help improve safety and save lives on Australian roads.

According to the company’s Sarah Jones, tougher chain of responsibility enforcement is one of the ways we can improve road safety as well as compulsory electronic logbooks.

Speaking at the Australasian Road Safety Conference in Canberra, Jones listed a number of trucking industry reforms to improve safety.

As former head of compliance and technology with the National Transport Commission, Jones cited evidence that the Heavy Vehicle National Law and its concept of chain of responsibility had made a positive impact on road safety, reducing major crashes while freight carted has increased.
