Chain of Responsibility Ignorance Still a Concern

A recent article on Ownerdriver.com.au discussed a survey conducted on behalf of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator which revealed that many operators still do not have adequate chain of responsibility training for their managers, more than twenty years since it was implemented in 1994.

In fact 1 in 5 trucking operators and customers out of the 800 surveyed, did not have sufficient COR training in place for managers.

The full report will be released this year, preceding the implementation of improved provisions in the law which are expected in the first half of 2018.

The provisions will make it easier to investigate and prosecute COR offences, targeting unsafe practices instead of waiting for an accident to happen.
