The truck driver who ploughed through a Sydney intersection in 2014, sending 6 people to hospital has been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment and will only be eligible for parole in 2020.
The man pleaded not guilty to the incident which left a Senior Police Constable, Amy Champion with life changing injuries, including a broken shoulder, broken ribs and traumatic brain injury.
CCTV footage showed the driver lose control of the 22 tonne truck on Warringah Road in Dee Why. He ignored the 20km/h speed limit and drove as fast as 65km/h on a steep descent. His truck upended and collided with 6 cars.
He claimed his braked were faulty however no evidence of this was found.
