A man has died after the truck he was traveling in crashed and caught alight in the Pilbara recently.

According to reports the 2005 red Western Star prime mover was moving south on Great Northern Highway when it left the road and rolled onto its left side before bursting into flames, 80km from Newman.

The 37 year old victim from Stratton, who was asleep in the sleeper cab at the time of the crash, died on the scene while the 52 year old driver suffered only minor injuries.

Witnesses have been called upon by major crash investigators to come forward about anything they may have seen relating to the crash which took place around midnight.
