NSW road authorities made up of Joint Traffic Taskforce police officers and RMS inspectors have raided the company whose truck was involved in a fiery fatal crash on the M1.
The crash led to a large explosion and subsequent fire.
The male driver of the truck died on the scene, he was 50 years old.
The company’s trucks and trailers were inspected and 5 minor defects were detected as well as one major defect. One trailer had a cancelled registration and one driver had his driving privileges withdrawn due to traffic offences. Inspectors also discovered 2 non-compliant engine control modules due to speed settings.
RMS Director Compliance Roger Weeks said the operation should serve as a warning to operators that they will face the consequences for non-compliance.
Authorities also emphasized the importance of everyone in the ‘Chain Of Responsibility’ taking their obligations seriously, or facing the same fate.
