You may have seen the ATA’s Safety Truck on the road, and the man behind it, Glen Schmidtke, recently shared why the work being done is so important.
After dealing with countless accidents, the ex NSW Highway Patrol Officer understands the importance of the message of road safety around trucks.
The focus of the safety truck is to target higher risk groups such as young drivers between the ages of 16 and 25.
The truck also visits younger kids, focusing on the Stop, Look, Wave campaign for Volvo.
He highlighted the importance of the message, given that 9 out of 10 crashes involving trucks are caused by the other vehicle. Obviously many drivers don’t know how to safely drive around trucks, which is why these kinds of initiatives are so important.
