The horrific crash involving a B-Double on the Newell Highway north of Dubbo in NSW which claimed the lives of a 19 year old passenger and her boyfriend when a truck slammed into six vehicles stopped at roadworks, has led to some controversial suggestions by Roads Minister Melinda Pavey. Minister Pavey suggested truck drivers be given in-cab devices that notice when they take their eyes off the road and administer an electric shock, alerting them.
