SARTA has questioned the SA Police’s refusal to provide a total number of trucks stopped in a compliance blitz at Dry Creek.
While the state police provided the number of infringements, they failed to give the number of total vehicles pulled over in the blitz, making it difficult to determine whether progress is being made in the industry or not.
SARTA Director Steve Shearer says this is an “ill considered strategy to avoid the response” from him that problems in the trucking industry are actually at a very low level.
He went on to say that if the results of the blitz were bad, the police would have been “trumpeting” the numbers.
