NSW Launches Transport Industry

NatRoad recently gave evidence to a Queensland Parliamentary inquiry currently looking into changes to the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).

NatRoad says the law currently is poor and in need of revision to ensure usefulness in delivering safety and productivity to Australia’s heavy vehicle sector.

The law came into effect 5 years ago. NatRoad says its about time the law was reviewed and the states of Western Australia and Northern Territory adopt the changed law to ensure a nationally consistent heavy vehicle law.

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator should be given authority over local and state roads. NatRoad believes its members wont benefit in productivity and safety until the regulator has the proper level of legislative authority to act in the national interest and for the industry.
