Truck Driver Charged After Dubbo Crash

Following a Dubbo crash, a man has been charged when the truck he was driving, carrying a load of horses crashed, killing a local and resulting in the euthanisation of 9 horses.

The truck was carrying 17 horses at the time while driving along Mogriguy Road near Dubbo when it rolled into a culvert.

A well respected harness racing identity, 64 year old Ken Smith died at the scene.

A 16 year old boy was injured and airlifted to Westmead Hospital in Sydney.

The driver, suffered only minor injuries and the following day was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death as well as  dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm. He was also charged with negligent driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and causing bodily harm by misconduct.

The 32 year old driver had his licence suspended. He was granted conditional bail and is set to appear in court soon.
