The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has begun its assessment of electronic work diaries against its own EWD standards for the first time after approving the system. The NHVR decided a few months ago that EWDs were a sustainable and effective alternative to the old written work diaries. The regulator will now assess some models of EWDs on the market and will then post a list of the approved systems on its site. The NHVR said only products that meet the standards of the regulator will be approved and used for regulatory purposes to record work hours and rest breaks.
