A truck rollover involving a concrete truck has led to a major compliance operation at a transport company in Sydney’s Rosehill suburb.
The incident happened on Thursday 3 January 2019 when a fully loaded concrete truck was traveling north along Rooty Hill Road North. The vehicle rolled while it was trying to negotiate a right turn before coming to rest on the curb.
The driver and a passenger suffered minor injuries and upon further investigation the police found the driver was on his first day driving for the company.
This prompted a full audit of the company’s fleet by Traffic Task Force officers and Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) inspectors.
During the compliance audit, 23 vehicles were inspected and 9 minor defects were discovered relating to vehicle lights, number plates, seatbelts, tyres and suspension and seating. RMS inspectors issued 3 formal warnings. Police also conducted breath and drug tests which all returned negative results.
Police released the following footage of the incident and the audit which followed,
